Today, I watched part of The Avengers with the three kids I’m babysitting for the summer: a 9 year-old boy and two girls, ages 6 and 4.
When they moved into the scene with Natasha in Russia, the 6 year-old turned to ask me who she was, if she was a bad guy, and I told her she was one of the heroes.
6 year-old says, ”Heroes rescue people. She’s not a hero. She’s a girl. She can’t rescue people. What can she do?”
I just said, “Watch.”
As Black Widow commenced busting heads and strolling out carrying her heels, both girls turned back to me, grinning so big.
“She’s good at that,” said the older girl. I agreed. “You like that girl?” asked the four year-old. I said, I do. “Me too,” she said, still smiling.
